Documentaries - kanopy

Kanopy is an ad-free streaming service that provides free access to thousands of critically acclaimed films, including classic movies, documentaries, and independent cinema, through participating public libraries and universities. Users can access content on computers, mobile devices, and smart TVs, with access usually requiring a library or university login. Most library-based users receive a set number of "tickets" each month to watch films, while educational institutions may offer unlimited access for students and faculty

eBooks: Libby App

Libby is a free app from OverDrive that allows you to borrow and read ebooks, audiobooks, and access extras like Great Courses. You can use it on your phone, tablet, or computer by signing in with your library card. The app offers features like offline downloads, sending books to a Kindle, and synchronized reading progress across devices.

The Amargosa Valley Library is proud to be an affiliate library of FamilySearch, a free nonprofit genealogical service sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. FamilySearch helps individuals discover and preserve their family history through its website, mobile apps, and family history centers. As an affiliate library, we provide access to billions of historical records, an extensive catalog, and a collaborative public family tree where users can connect and share information about their ancestors.

In addition, the library hosts a monthly genealogy group that meets on Thursday afternoons to discuss research strategies, share discoveries, and learn how to effectively use genealogy resources and tools.

Comics Plus

Library card holders now have free access to Comics Plus—a digital library of comics, graphic novels, and manga!

With thousands of titles available, you can explore your favorite stories and build a personalized reading collection using the My Shelf feature.

Food Delivery

Through a partnership with Helping Hands of Vegas, the Amargosa Library provides a monthly food pantry offering shelf-stable groceries, proteins, fresh vegetables, and pre-made frozen meals. The pantry is available to community members aged 60 and older. Distribution takes place on the third Friday of every month from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This free service helps older adults supplement their food resources and access nutritious options in a welcoming library environment. Please contact the Amargosa Library for application instructions and any documentation required to enroll.

Bibliotele provides unlimited access to a curated collection of movies, series, documentaries, theater, children’s programming, and telenovelas, as well as expert-led events on critical topics such as immigration, education, health, entrepreneurship, and civic rights—all entirely in Spanish.
